Alkagesta positioned its Singapore hub for two markets at once: the conventional marine fuels business that drove early volumes, and the renewable fuels demand that was building across Asia-Pacific. Established in 2025 as Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd, the office joined a network spanning Malta, London, Geneva and Dubai.
The conventional side moved first. Ship & Bunker reported the desk at roughly 160,000 MT in November 2025 and 180,000 MT in December, with a 250,000 MT monthly target. Agshin Bakirzade, Commodity Trading Director for APAC, described the growth as selective and strategic.
The renewable side was built into the structure from the start. Alkagesta held ISCC EU certification for biofuel supply chains, which ScandAsia highlighted when it profiled the hub as a bridge between European governance and Asian growth. CEO Orkhan Rustamov said the goal was to merge EU precision with Asian momentum.
Singapore offered the regulatory ground for both. Fintech News Singapore cited its legal framework and transparent governance, and IPS News quoted board member Pierre Gay calling the move a test of credibility. Every flow, conventional or renewable, ran through KYC/AML checks, vessel and counterparty screening and a zero-tolerance sanctions policy, financed through 28 international banks.
The company set out its thinking on regional supply in Singapore Marine Fuels 2026: Supply Resilience, documented its presence in Alkagesta at Horizon Terminal Singapore, Jurong Island, and announced the hub at Alkagesta Expands Singapore Commodity Trading Hub.
