Alkagesta has been awarded ISCC CORSIA certification, allowing it to trade and supply CORSIA-eligible Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in line with international aviation sustainability standards, Malta Today reported. This certification positions the company to support airlines in meeting global emissions monitoring and compliance obligations.

The CORSIA certification acts as a recognised framework, ensuring that SAF adheres to specific lifecycle greenhouse gas reduction criteria under International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards. Through this ICAO-approved sustainability scheme, Alkagesta can now provide verified SAF supply to airline counterparties, aligning with regulatory requirements.

Anthony Guida, Alkagesta's Biofuels Trader and Business Developer, stated that achieving ISCC CORSIA certification reflects the ongoing development of their biofuels activities. He added that it highlights their focus on structured and compliant market participation, providing clear chain of custody and traceability for the supply process.

The certification supports counterparties in fulfilling both international and regional SAF requirements. Malta Today noted that initiatives like ReFuelEU Aviation introduce mandatory SAF blending thresholds within the European regulatory landscape, while the EU Emissions Trading System's gradual phase-out of free allowances increases the economic importance of sustainable fuel adoption.

Against this backdrop, CORSIA certification contributes to a more harmonised compliance environment, fostering transparency and consistency across international SAF markets. Alkagesta continues to enhance its sustainable fuels capabilities within a disciplined trading and governance framework.
