Alkagesta, a global commodity trading company, published its 2025 ESG Report, outlining its commitment to integrity, transparency, and respect for people and the planet. The report indicates that the company expanded its environmental accountability, strengthened community partnerships, and reinforced governance systems throughout the year.

In 2025, Alkagesta completed its second corporate emissions assessment, reporting 16,356 tCO₂e in Scope 1 and 37 tCO₂e in Scope 2. The company noted that the increase in Scope 1 emissions compared to 2024, which was 8,178 tCO₂e, resulted from expanded operational activity across its vessel and vehicle fleets. Alkagesta is also evaluating the integration of Scope 3 emissions.

The company's used cooking oil (UCO) recycling operations saw significant growth, with 1,856,631 kg collected, an 11.4% increase year-on-year, and 1,781,520 kg processed, up 12.7%. Other environmental initiatives included the launch of 0.1 ULSFO trading in the Mediterranean, efforts to eliminate single-use plastics, and continued development of its Biofuels Business Strategy.

Regarding social responsibility, Alkagesta deepened its community commitments through partnerships with the Arab Bank Foundation, supporting education and humanitarian programs, and WISTA Malta, which promotes women's leadership in maritime and trading sectors. Internally, the company hosted over ten employee-led knowledge-sharing sessions and provided 100% inclusive leadership training for all managers.

Alkagesta's governance structure, overseen by its Board of Directors, Executive Board, and specialized committees, continued to evolve in 2025. Its compliance infrastructure, utilizing various platforms, facilitated comprehensive due diligence for counterparties, vessels, and transactions. The company conducted 380 vessel assessments and completed 284 counterparty KYC screenings.

The report also noted that compliance audits shifted to a biannual schedule, and a new ESG scorecard was introduced. This scorecard tracks diversity, compliance, and transparency during quarterly board-level reviews, reflecting Alkagesta's commitment to responsible global trade while expanding its operations.
