Alkagesta, a commodity trading house, has been granted ISCC CORSIA certification, according to SAF Investor. This certification allows the company to trade and supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that is eligible under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

The certification, achieved through an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-approved sustainability scheme, positions Alkagesta to assist airline clients with verified SAF supplies. These supplies are aligned with their regulatory obligations, as reported by SAF Investor.

Anthony Guida, a biofuels trader and business developer at Alkagesta, stated that achieving ISCC CORSIA certification demonstrates the ongoing expansion of their biofuels operations. He added that it also highlights their commitment to structured and compliant market participation.

Mr Guida further explained that the certification establishes a clear chain of custody and traceability throughout the supply process. This supports counterparties in fulfilling both international and regional SAF requirements, SAF Investor noted.

Within the European regulatory framework, initiatives such as ReFuelEU Aviation are introducing mandatory SAF blending targets. Additionally, the gradual removal of free allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System is increasing the economic importance of adopting SAF.

Against this regulatory backdrop, CORSIA certification helps to create a more consistent compliance environment. It also promotes transparency and uniformity across international SAF markets, according to the SAF Investor report.
