Alkagesta, the Malta-based global energy and commodity trading house, has been awarded the EcoVadis Committed Badge, recognising the company's commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices across its global trading operations.
EcoVadis is one of the world's most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, assessing companies across four pillars: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment is evidence-based, evaluating the policies, reporting and transparency of companies against internationally recognised sustainability standards.
Achieving the Committed Badge reflects Alkagesta's performance across these criteria and provides a framework for continued improvement. It sits alongside the company's wider ESG commitments, which include ISCC and CORSIA certification for sustainable aviation fuel trading, access to EU ETS allowances, and ongoing investment in environmental research initiatives such as the Clean Caspian startup.
Orkhan Rustamov, CEO of Alkagesta, commented: "Receiving the EcoVadis Committed Badge reflects the work being done across Alkagesta to embed responsible business practices into how we operate — not as a separate agenda, but as part of how we run the business day to day. As a company trading commodities that sit at the heart of the global economy, we take seriously our responsibility to operate with integrity and transparency. We see this as a foundation to build on, and we will continue to raise our standards across the areas EcoVadis measures."
The recognition reinforces the standards that underpin Alkagesta's day-to-day operations across its trading desks, from counterparty screening to trade execution, where compliance and transparency requirements are embedded into commercial processes rather than treated as a separate function.
That operational discipline is anchored by the company's compliance framework and code of conduct, which set out how staff and counterparties are expected to operate across the jurisdictions where Alkagesta trades — from Know Your Customer screening to sanctions adherence and anti-bribery controls.
For counterparties and financing partners, third-party assessments such as EcoVadis provide an independent reference point for evaluating the governance of the trading houses they work with. The badge gives Alkagesta's business partners a standardised view of the company's sustainability posture as it expands across biofuels, jet fuel, and fuel oil.
The award follows a period of growing visibility for the company. Alkagesta recently took part in GTR Commodities 2026 in Geneva, published record first-half results, and extended its storage footprint across Europe and Asia, including a multi-year biofuel storage agreement in Antwerp.
As EcoVadis measures continue to feed into procurement decisions across shipping, energy and commodities, recognitions of this kind are increasingly part of the commercial landscape for trading houses — alongside the market analysis Alkagesta publishes through its Market Insights platform.
