Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd, the Singapore entity of the Alkagesta Group, has reached monthly marine fuel volumes of approximately 200,000 metric tonnes, according to a report by Bunker Market. Mithat Ciftcioglu, Marine Distribution Director at Alkagesta Singapore, explained that this achievement is underpinned by the Group's $1.2 billion liquidity platform and a disciplined operational approach.
The Singapore office, established in late 2024, serves as a structured extension of Alkagesta's global energy platform. Bunker Market reported that its purpose was to strengthen execution capabilities in a key marine energy hub, maintaining consistent governance and operational standards across regions, including Malta, London, Dubai, Geneva, and Singapore.
Integration into the Group's existing structure was immediate and deliberate, with Alkagesta Asia operating within centralised risk management, compliance, and operational control systems. Mr Ciftcioglu told Bunker Market that growth was aligned with infrastructure readiness, logistics capability, and financial support to ensure sustainable volumes and uncompromised operational standards.
A significant milestone for Alkagesta Asia was securing storage capacity at Horizon Terminal by mid-2025. This allowed the company to physically handle and distribute marine fuels, providing direct control over quality, inventory, and delivery timing, which are crucial factors in the competitive Singapore market.
The company introduced Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO) in November 2025, with initial volumes of 20,000 to 30,000 metric tonnes per month. By January 2026, total monthly bunker sales reached approximately 200,000 metric tonnes, comprising around 160,000-170,000 metric tonnes of VLSFO, 20,000-30,000 metric tonnes of LSMGO, and the remainder as HSFO.
Financial discipline is fundamental to Alkagesta Asia's growth, with a trade finance facility established with ING Singapore. The Alkagesta Group maintains relationships with 28 international banks, securing aggregate commodity trade finance facilities exceeding USD 1.2 billion, which supports regional operations and ensures supply continuity.
Mr Ciftcioglu noted that geopolitical developments continue to influence bunker and oil markets, leading to increased price volatility. Despite this, market fundamentals remain supportive, with global bunker fuel demand expected to be resilient through 2026, driven by sustained seaborne trade.
