Four shipping companies have placed orders for new intermediate tankers, adding to the VINGA series. This investment will increase the total number of vessels in the series, developed by Furetank, to 26. The announcement was made on Friday, coinciding with the naming ceremony for the FURE VASA.
The shipowners involved are based in Sweden, Norway, and Canada. They reportedly anticipate a positive outlook for the European intermediate tanker market. This collective decision to order new vessels reflects their confidence in future market conditions.
The VINGA series is a significant development in the intermediate tanker sector. The expansion of this series through these new orders highlights ongoing investment and growth within the shipping industry, particularly for specialized vessel types.
The new vessels are expected to contribute to the capacity and modernization of the European intermediate tanker fleet. This strategic investment by multiple companies underscores a shared perspective on the market's potential and the demand for such tankers.
