The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index saw a 2.5% increase on Friday, reaching 3,186. This marked the seventh consecutive session of gains for the index, according to Hellenic Shipping News.

The recent rise brings the index to its highest level recorded since June 2. The index serves as a measure of freight rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities.

Hellenic Shipping News reported that the gains were widespread across the various vessel categories. The larger Capesize segment was noted as the primary driver of this upward movement.

The index encompasses freight rates for vessels across three main segments: Capesize, Panamax, and Supramax. All these segments contributed to the overall positive performance of the index.
