TotalEnergies, a French energy company, and its Nigerian partner AMNI have given the go-ahead for the development of a gas field located off the coast of Nigeria, Offshore Energy reported. This project is described as a low-emission initiative.

The primary purpose of this new gas field development is to supply feedstock for Nigeria's next liquefied natural gas (LNG) train. This expansion is part of the existing liquefaction plant's ongoing growth plans.

According to Offshore Energy, the gas field is expected to provide approximately one-third of the total feedstock required for the new LNG train. This indicates a substantial contribution to the facility's operational needs.

The decision to proceed with this project highlights TotalEnergies' commitment to gas development in the region. The collaboration with local partner AMNI underscores a joint effort in advancing Nigeria's energy infrastructure.

This development is poised to support the expansion of Nigeria's LNG production capacity. The new LNG train is a key component of the nation's strategy to enhance its liquefied natural gas output, as reported by Offshore Energy.
